This recording presents 8 new and/or previously never recorded original tunes by the leader and features John Johnson on saxophones, Jim Vivian on bass and Vito Rezza on drums.

In late 1993 Joey released his first CD entitled Joey Goldstein & Friends - A Strange Little Tune.
This album was actually a partial combination of two separate projects (12 tracks in all, totaling almost 75 minutes of music) and contains four tracks from Joey's 1988 cassette-only release, "Time's Square", along with eight newer pieces.
A Strange Little Tune features the talents of Doug Riley and Boko Suzuki on keyboards, Vito Rezza and Mark Kelso on drums, Michael Farquharson on bass, and Rob Bonisolo on tenor saxophone.

In 1988 The Joey Goldstein Band (consisting of Michael Farquharson on bass, Boko Suzuki on keyboards and Mark Kelso on drums) recorded an album entitled "Time's Square".
Although it was only released on cassette, this recording received ample airplay on many Canadian and US mainstream and campus radio stations.
